A Spanish farmer has been thrown in jail after he was filmed jumping belly first into a shed full of piglets, as reported by the dailymail.
The graphic content was filmed by the farmers friend and posted via WhatsApp where it then went viral. The man was jailed for 15 months along with his friend who filmed him. The video footage shows the Lithuanian man and a Spaniard, 19 and 22 respectively, were arrested after the footage was shared online.
The incident occurred on a farm in the Almeria region of Spain. Reports in Spain suggest that 19 piglets were killed immediately by the stunt, while others were left seriously injured and were in need of euthanization. The courts heard the Defendant call the stunt a joke, though he disputed the number of pigs killed. The judge condemned the videos while he also criticised the man’s friend for not stepping into stop. .
The courts heard how 79 piglets died as a result of the farmer belly flopping them. The court in Spain handed down the sentences, saying the crimes were “unjustifiable and cruel”. The men were subsequently banned from working with livestock for over three years. They were also handed down a fine of €60 for each piglet killed, €4,470.
