With farmers left feeling frustrated with the Clean Livestock Policy, we ran a poll to give sheep farmers a voice.

That’s Farming ran a poll in response to reports from farmers who revealed that some processors have refused to accept some sheep and lambs at the factory gate due to their 'dirty' and/or 'wet' condition of their fleeces.

The rejection of sheep has occurred because of failures to meet requirements under the Clean Livestock Policy.

In a poll, we asked our readers for their thoughts and experiences, with all the findings highlighted below.

Poll Results

When asked ‘do you have an understanding of the Clean Livestock Policy’, 79% of readers responded ‘yes’.

When asked ‘do you feel that a demonstration should be provided to increase a farmer’s knowledge of the CLP’ 74% said ‘yes’.

To wrap-up our poll, we finally asked ‘ have your sheep been turned away at the factory gate, with processors suggesting that they were ‘dirty’ and/or wet, 25% revealed that this has occurred.
