Sheep farmers have expressed frustration following the roll-out of the Clean Livestock Policy, as processors have threatened to turn sheep away from the factory gate.
Cases have been reported whereby processors have been successful in turning away lots that they have considered 'dirty' and/or 'wet' sheep.
ICSA Chairman John Brooks has said that the ICSA understands that from this coming Monday “a huge clampdown” will come into effect with meat factories refusing to accept sheep and lambs they consider dirty.
Do you understand the terms of the Clean Livestock Policy? Have any of your sheep been turned away at the factory gate? Express your thoughts in our poll below. The results will be posted on That’s Farming on Monday.
