Just as it looked like the bad weather was about to clear up, Met Éireann has implemented a status orange fog warning for the whole of the country.
The warning took effect from 12pm today, Thursday, and will be in place until early tomorrow morning at 2am, providing conditions improve as expected. The whole of the country is affected, as can be seen by conditions outside today.
Met Éireann warns of “very poor visibilities” which they say will linger inland and become denser as the evening progresses. They warn of “dense fog” and “some fog” later tonight, mainly in the midlands, east and northern parts of the country. Temperatures are also set to remain colder for tonight at least, with some places set to experience lows of minus 1 degrees, with frost in places.
Motorists have been advised to exercise caution on the roads, due to poor visibility, while some roads were also reported to have black ice in places. We will keep you updated on the situation as we get more information.
