This year’s JJ McHugh Memorial Tractor Run drew crowds from all corners of the Heather County, with a record number of entrants on Easter Monday.
The event is staged on an annual basis for JJ McHugh, Cahir, Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo who died tragically following a road-traffic accident in 2012. The McHugh family are renowned for their multi-prize winning Charolais herd which is managed under the ‘Rivergloir’ prefix by Jarlath; Margaret and family.
The family presented a cheque to the value of €4,810 to Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation at a presentation night on Saturday, following the tractor run.
A statement released by the charity on their Facebook page read “This tractor run has raised nearly €10,000 in a year which is just amazing! What an incredible family, who despite the tragic loss of their son and brother JJ, manage to raise vital funds for our Palliative Care Service!”
