Unlucky for some, 13
Laois farmer loses 13 sheep to dog attacks.
In the last two weeks one Laois farmer has lost up to 13 of his stock. This is due to dog attacks in the area. The attacks have happened in the past two weeks and have caused serious grief for the farmer.
Damien Delany is a suckler and sheep farmer and said this of the attacks “On Thursday morning, my father found them. He said he saw two dogs leaving the field, a big black one and a smaller one.”
Delaney’s farm sits just outside Mountrath, and the farmer says himself he knows the culprits, a black Labrador and a small terrier. “Then on the Saturday just gone, three sheep were killed while another four of the sheep died as a result of shock.”
He added ““I’ve 13 sheep lost in the last two weeks. They now scatter in the field when you go to walk through them. They’re scared and terrified.”
Not the only farmer in recent months to be subject to such circumstances, Delaney hopes this is the end of these sheep “murders”.
