Two innocent farmers have been gunned down as part of a mafia hit in Italy.
Southern Italy is in the grip of a mafia fued and its latest victims are two farmers who stumbled upon the body of a dead mobster.
The murders occurred in San Marco, Lamis in the Puglia area. It is the 17 so far this year in the area. The area is home to the Sacra Corona Unita (the United Sacred Crown.)
Gunmen killed local mobster Mario Luciano Romito and then two passing farmers aged 43 and 47 who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
One of the brothers were shot in the back as he tried to escape across fields. Italy’s Interior Minister Marco Minniti is travelling to Foggiano today.
The mafia fued is one of the worst in recent years.
