MSD Animal Health Ireland have announced the appointment of two new members to their marketing team.
The two new faces are GAA stars, John Heslin and Jack O’Connor. The pair will join the marketing team as ruminant product managers and will be responsible for developing and delivering communications campaigns on the prevention and control of disease in both sheep and cattle.
The appointments represent an enhancement of the company’s communications and marketing functions, reflecting the increased emphasis on the use of disease-prevention vaccines and the parallel campaign to reduce the level of antibiotic use in farm animals.
MSD is currently the largest supplier of animal medicines on the Irish market and the leading supplier of vaccines to prevent disease.
Hailing from Piercestown, in Co Wexford, Jack O’Connor graduated from UCD in 2017 with a degree in agricultural science, specialising in food and agribusiness management. He has been working in the MSD Animal Health marketing department since June 2017 prior to his new role.
Originating from Mullingar, John Heslin graduated from UCD in 2014 with a degree in agricultural science. He joins MSD from Teagasc Grange where he has worked as a research officer on beef production systems. He is completing a Teagasc/UCD PhD on animal reproduction.
Both new appointees are accomplished sportsmen. Jack O’Connor is a member of the Wexford senior hurling team and John Heslin is the current captain of the Westmeath senior football team.
