The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has published the sixth forest fire danger warning of the year.
The most recent fire danger notice, a condition orange rating was issued yesterday - Monday, May, 14th and is effective from yesterday up until May, 21st, 2018.
In a statement, the DAFM outlined the following:
“Arising from the current and forest weather associated with Atlantic high-pressure systems( Type B), a high fire risk is forecast in all areas where hazardous fuels exist.
“This risk is projected to increase significantly within the next 72 hours, and then to be sustained well into the coming week. An increased ignition risk is associated with increased human activity in high-risk areas, particularly areas associated with turf cutting activities.”
The DAFM has provided advice to both forest Owners and Managers - that information can be found here.
