Tractor manufacturers from around the world have gathered for this year’s Agritechnica, all with hopes of winning the top gong, tractor of the year.
This is the sixth year the competition has been in place, with 22 tractors competing on the part of 15 different brands. The judging began back in May and was judged by 24 judges. The award was presented on the day by CEMA, the European network of Ag Machinery Associations.
There were three categories as part of the competition, which Included: Best Design, Best of Specialized and Best Utility. In the Best Design category there was up to 15 competitors, vying it out for the award. This included Massey Ferguson, Class,Kubota, New Holland, McCormick, John Deere, Case IH, Fendt and Valtra.
The best design award for competed by 15 different tractors. This included machines from Kubota, Claas, Massey ferguson, John Deere, Aebi, McCormick, Valtra dn Fendt.
The overall winner on the day, was the Valtra Versu T254 Smart Touch.
In the best of specialized category, there were six finalists which included: Fendt for their 211 Vario V, Class for the Nexos 240 VE, Aebi for the TT281, Massey Ferguson for the 3710 S, and Kubota for the M5101 N.
The winner on the day went to Fendt, for the 211 Vario V. The judges said the machine had one of the finest best engines and transmission setups in the section.
The Best Utility section contained competitors from John Deere, Massey Ferguson, McCormick, New Holland and Valtra. This time the gong went to McCormick for the X6.440 VT-Drive. Judges cited its agility, versatility and its new transmission for the reasons behind McCormick’s win.
Tractor of the Year:
The most hotly anticipated award was the tractor of the year award, with it coming down to 5 finalists. Competing was Class, Case, Valtra, John Deere, and New Holland. Valtra took home their second prize of the day, winning the award for their Valtra T 255 Versu Smart Touch.
Judges cited the comfort, performance, versatility and efficiency as the major factors behind Valtra’s win. Also mentioned was the multi-use drive lever, hydraulic joystick and standard 9-inch touch screen. Judges called it the best interface in the tractor industry.
