Leaving Certificate 2017
5,615 candidates filed applications to appeal 9,806 grades.
1,425 upgrades were made, with 4 downgrades.
The overall rate of upgrades in 2017 is 14.5%, which is compared to 17.5% in 2016.
In a press release, SEC said that this change has been witnessed primarily because of the introduction of 10% grade bands in the 2017 Leaving Certificate examination.
Appeal results were made available to candidates on the SEC’s website from 12 noon, yesterday on Wednesday 11th October.
All 2017 Leaving Certificate students were invited to view their scripts in September of this year.
Students who appealed their results had their entire papers marked once again, question by question.
