Maam Cross held their first sale of 2018 on Saturday, with a good trade reported all round.
Speaking to That's Farming, Muiread Burke said:
"Maam Cross Mart had a healthy number of stock for its first sale of 2018 and a high sale percentage of 96% to match. Blackface store lambs held their own with one pen of blackface ram lambs making €91. Heifers remained a firm trade making up to €3.40/kg. It was great to see such genuine Connemara stock on display. We urge sellers to book in advance as it allows us to notify buyers." Muiread said.
Cows averaged €1.52/kg to €1.93/kg to a max of €1,550 for a 800kg dry CH cow.
Heifers: averaged €2.42/kg to a max of € 3.40/kg to a max of €950 for SAX heifer weighing 395kg.
Bullocks averaged €1.92/kg to €2.42/kg with a top price of €1,085 for a 465kg CH
Weanlings averaged €2.74/kg to a max of €4.27/kg with €1,390 been paid for a 9 month old 325kg purebred registered Charolais.
Cross-bred lambs €55 to €70 with a max price €76 for crossbred ewe lambs
Blackface Store Lambs €30 to €80 with a max price of €91 for blackface ram
Cull Ewes €25 to €80
Blackface rams €30 to €64 for a blackface 2.5 y/o suitable for breeding ram.
