Over 280 head of cattle on offer in Tullow with trade reported as similar to what we have seen for the last two weeks with quality cattle not all out as top range as we have seen at the Fat Stock Shows and Sales, according to Eric Driver, Manager of Tullow Mart.
Beef and forward bullocks meeting a steady demanding trade for those FR and HE types selling anything in the region from €2 per kg upwards with the good continental type bullocks meeting a very lively trade selling up to a tops of €1020 with the kg.
Lighter store bullocks over 500kg selling in the region for those HE and AA of €2.05 up to a tops of €2.60 for the continental types with the majority ranging from €650 to €800 with the kg.
Plenty of farmer custom around the ring for the lighter store bullocks with the FR from €1.90 per kg HE and AA selling from €2.15 upwards up to €3 for the very smart well-presented bullocks around 330kg to 400kg with the majority of those continental bullocks selling up to a tops of €2.70.
Equally lively trade in the heifer ring for beef heifers with a very demanding butcher trade for those fleshed younger type heifers selling in the region from €2 for HE and AA to €2.40 per kg for the continental type heifers.
In the store ring heifers over 500kg equally as lively selling from a base of €2.10 for HE and AA up to €2.75 for continental type heifers.
Very lively trade for the lighter store heifers and a lot of farmer custom around the ring with those heifers selling in the region of €2.10 for HE and AA up to a top of €2.80 for some smarter CH and LM types.
Very lively trade for those fit continental type cows, FR cows maybe a little easier by €20 or €30 for the lighter type cow and overall continuing to meet a steady trade, Eric Driver noted. Some FR from €100 with the kg up to €300 with the kg for the younger type cow carrying a bit of flesh while we see the continental cows selling from a base of €2.50 for the feeding type cow with the kg up to tops of €750 with the kg.
Over 80 calves on offer and they met with a very brisk trade with those FR calves as the numbers start to build holding a steady a steady price. Those shipping calves from €65 up to €110 with those stronger FR from €150 to €220 with the HE and AA heifers selling from €150 up to €240 with the HE and AA bulls from €190 up to €300 and the LM heifers selling from €280 up to €420 and the LM bulls selling from €360 up to €440 with a full clearance.
