Agents & exporters competed for a smaller offering of stock - suckler pairings hit €1,680; dairy stock peaked at €1,300 and calves ranged from €50-€500.

Agents and exporters were active at Ennis Mart, with a smaller offering of cattle on Tuesday, June, 5th.

Quality at the fore, the trade for weanlings was exceptionally strong, with an improvement in prices and a top call of €3.84/kg achieved in the bull weanling category.

In-calf suckler cows and heifers sold on average for €1,100, with some excellent quality lots on offer.

Suckler pairings ranged from €1,000 up to €1,680, while freshly calved dairy cows and heifers realised €1,300.

Friesian calves varied from €50-80, with limited numbers, while Angus/Hereford cross calves sold from €140 up to a tops of €350. Continental-cross calves made from a base of €250 up to €500.

SHEEP

The trade for sheep was slightly easier once again this week, with smaller numbers on offer.

Cull ewes made up to €139 while hoggets topped out at €140 - a price that was paid for 58kg. Spring lambs climbed to €147 for a pen of 12 weighing 51kg, while ewes with twin lambs peaked at €200.
