Heavy lambs dearer by €1-€3 per head, with a very strong trade for forward store lambs between 38-44 KG.
Speaking to That’s Farming, Joe Kinsella, manager and auctioneer said:
“There was a strong trade on Saturday for good heavy lambs. Lambs 50-60kg were up between €1-€3 a head, in comparison to prices given before the festive season. The lighter lambs ranging from 40-50kg were also €2-€4 a head dearer.” Joe explained.
“The lighter stores were probably a bit easier than they were before Christmas, but the terrible weather conditions, like those over the course of the last 4-5 weeks impacts the thrive of sheep unless they are being fed well. There was certainly good quality lambs out. They met a strong demand.” Joe added.
