The first sale in Ballinrobe Mart of the 2018 calendar was held on Wednesday.
Speaking to That’s Farming, Tom McGuire, Manager of Ballinrobe Mart said:
“It was a small sale which was expected because it was the first sale of the year. Cattle are no dearer than they were before Christmas. As we approach the spring, normally cattle get dearer but there are no signs of that yet.” Tom told Catherina of That’s Farming.

There was a small opening sheep sale with prices up slightly on last year. Store Lambs were making from €79.00 to €95.00 with Ewe lambs making up to €120.00.
Factory Lambs were making from €86.00 to €119.00 with Fat Ewes making from €77to a €121.
“Sheep were €2-3/head dearer than before Christmas. The trade is holding strong.” Tom said.
