Mixed Trade for Aubracs at Tuam Sale
The Irish Aubrac Cattle Breed Society held their fourth Annual Spring Sale in Tuam Mart on Monday last.
With 24 entries for the sale, buyers came from Wexford, Tipperary, Limerick, Monaghan, Mayo and Galway.
In spite of this, the trade was mixed.
Top price of the day, was an In-calf heifer sold by John McEvaddy, Claremorris, for €2450.
The top price bull was sold by James Donnellan, Dunmore for €2350.
Cows with calves averaged €2050.
In-calf heifers averaged €2225.
Heifers averaged €1300.
Bulls averaged €2105.
â‘As demonstrated by Monday’s sale entries, Aubracs are earning their place on Irish soil. The interest sparked is exemplified by the prices obtained and the distance purchasers travelled for the sale. A large number of the entries had very impressive €uro-star reports, rating four and five stars genotyped, making them a very attractive offering for BDGP participants. This only accounts for a fraction of what the breed can offer. ’ Catherina Cunnane of Irish Aubrac Society said.
