Big Bob is the Maori pet pig which has been causing a stir in the football world as of late, as reported in the Sunderland Echo.
The Pig, who is 11-years-old, has already successfully predicted the winner of England’s two opening World Cup games. Big Bob currently resides on the animal fun farm, ‘Down and the Farm’, where he was given the job of predicting the result of England’s World Cup games.
Bob was chosen for the task as he is usually the first animal, on the farm near Houghton,to sense when meal time has arrived. This is what led to him being dubbed the physic pig, with his abilities tested through the power of his nose.
For the previous two England games, which Bob successfully predicted England would win, three bowls labeled ‘Win’, ‘Lose’ and ‘Draw’ were placed in front of the pig, differing only in colour. Bob’s job was to pick a bowl of his random choosing, with his choice picked as his winning World Cup prediction.
“Big Bob certainly had more faith in England on Monday (last) than I did,”, said farmer William Weightman.
“Thankfully he was proved right”, the farmer added.
To date, he has guessed correctly that England would beat Tunisia, which they did 2-1, and Panama, whom they hammered over the weekend. The same farm previously had a football predicting donkey, Silver the Physic Donkey, who predicted that Sunderland AFC would go unbeaten in six games against rival Newcastle FC. There must be something in the water near Houghton!
Who will Bob choose as the winners of the England - Belgium game on Thursday? Could he get three in a row and replace Paul the Octopus?
